A native of Toronto, Ontario, Stephen "Yuro" Yurichuk founded Yuro SK8 Systems LLC, a Minnesota-based skill development and AAA hockey program. Since 2002, Yuro SK8 Systems has been involved in the training of hockey players at various stages of development, from the mite level to the professional ranks. Yuro played hockey Junior A Hockey in the MJHL and the OJHL and the Vail Avalanche of the American Frontier Hockey League. He was able to secure a full Academic Scholarship at Elmira Collage. That year they won the ECAC's against RPI. He later finished at Seneca College winning the OCAA's and representing in the Canadian Collegiate National tourney. He finished he hockey career playing professionally in Germany for the Schweinfurt ERV Mighty Dogs and Nordorn BullyDogs.
During his time playing professional hockey, he was offered the role as the Director of Hockey Operations in Cedar Rapids, IA. During his 5 year reign, he established and coached the varsity high school program. In 2003, he created the Yuro Stars EHC AAA program. In 2006, he moved to the Twin Cities area, where he started consulting for numerous hockey associations and high school varsity teams, while running camps, clinics and private lessons: All under his Yuro Sk8 Systems brand. During this time he co-founded the Reebok Nationals spring and summer AAA development program, which grew to over 18 teams.
From 2009 to 2011, Yuro worked for the St. Louis Blues organization both in Peoria and in St. Louis serving as s Skills Development Coach. He also was the Skills Development Coach from 2009 to 2011 for the USHL's Sioux City Musketeers.
In 2009, Yuro was asked to be the Director of Hockey Operations at the Northern Educate Hockey Academy, the first ever designated Online Hockey School Academy. Starting with only eight players in 2009, Yuro built the program to its height of 140 players by 2013. He also established and coached the 1999 and 2000 Revolution Tier I teams. Yuro remained on as the Boys Hockey Director and Skills Director until March 2015.
In the summer of 2013, Yuro ran the CCM Skills Camps in the cities of Detroit, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Boston. He was featured in the official Total Hockey RBZ Skate video launch in all of the US stores. In addition to all of this, Yuro spent one season as Director of Player Development with the Brookings Blizzard of the NAHL (a franchise now known as the St. Cloud Norsemen) and Alexandria Blizzard of the NA3HL. He also served as Head Coach/GM of the Willmar Warkhawks of the NA3HL.
In 2025, Yuro was named as the Director of Youth Development for the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL. In this role, Yuro will work closely with the Wilderness’ U16 and U18 Fall League and Spring League teams, providing direct mentorship and guidance to athletes at key stages of their hockey journeys. His responsibilities will include implementing advanced training programs, fostering a culture of growth and excellence, and ensuring that each player receives the developmental attention required to reach their full potential.
Trent Sylvester is a long-time member of the Yuro Sk8 family, both as a player and coach. He began coaching with Yuro Sk8 at just 16 years old, serving as a junior assistant with the 2006 and 2010 birth years. Now, Trent is the Head Coach for the 2010 and 2012 Yuro Stars AAA teams and currently serves as the Director of Hockey Operations for Yuro Sk8 Systems.
Trent recently wrapped up a successful college hockey career, winning the 2025 National Championship in his senior season at Lindenwood University. He played all four years at Lindenwood, contributing on and off the ice as a consistent and reliable presence. Before college, Trent played junior hockey for the Alexandria Blizzard and Willmar Warhawks. His path to juniors was built through time with the Iowa Wild AAA program and his high school career at the Academy of Holy Angels.
With years of experience as both a player and coach, Trent brings a competitive edge and deep understanding of the development process to each session. He takes pride in helping young athletes grow not just as players, but as teammates and leaders.
Dallas Duckson is a product of Yuro Sk8 training and player development, who has now taken on the role of coach and skill development specialist with Yuro Sk8 Systems. Since 2019, he has developed and coached hundreds of players, from beginner mites all the way to the professional ranks of hockey. Dallas takes a tremendous amount of pride in not only building great young hockey players and people, but also winning a few medals along the way. Dallas competed in two Minnesota High School State Tournaments with Mahtomedi (and being a member of the 2017 All Hockey Hair Team). He also played junior hockey in the NAHL, the MJHL, and the NA3HL (where he was a two-time team captain). Following his youth and junior career, Dallas played four years of college hockey at Hamline University. A long time favorite of Yuro Sk8 and Yuro Stars players, Dallas brings his passion for hard work and excellence to each and every practice.
Few know the hockey scene in the Twin Cities better than Minnesota native hockey player and coach, Dan Ohmann. Yuro Sk8 Systems greatly-benefits from his extensive knowledge and experience in the world of youth and juniors hockey, since his arrival to our staff in 2023. Dan played for Simley High School from 1999 through 2003, and led his team to a second place finish at the Minnesota High School Hockey State Tournament in 2003. For his efforts, he was rewarded with a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Also in 2003, Dan was rostered on Team Minnesota in the Ted Brill Great 8. Following his youth and high school hockey experiences, Dan played Junior A hockey for the Central Texas Blackhawks, and then for the Chicago Steel of the USHL.
After retiring from playing hockey, Dan took up coaching back in the Twin Cities as the Bantam A coach in Inver Grove Heights from 2005 to 2007. More recently, he has been a Head Coach and the Player and Coach Development Coordinator for Cottage Grove Association Hockey. Dan's knowledge, patience, and wisdom allows him to be one of the best youth hockey development coaches in Minnesota!
Wisconsin native Dylan Marty has played hockey since he was three years old, and has trained with Yuro since he was twelve. Rising through the ranks of youth and junior hockey, Dylan has played hockey at all levels, including AAA, Tier One, Juniors, NCAA Division III, and now as a Single-A professional hockey player in the FPHL for the Port Huron Prowlers. Dylan has also been involved in coaching and developing hockey players on and off the ice since 2016. His training specialties include dynamic shooting, stickhandling, skating, hockey IQ, and game play for all age and skill levels. Dylan is a true product of Yuro Sk8 Systems and he brings his knowledge and passion for the game to each and every training session.
Connor Nelson is the epitome of a hard-working, committed hockey player and coach. A native of Minnesota, Connor steadfastly-worked his way up through the ranks of hockey with a great attitude and a penchant for getting the job done right. He played high school hockey at Minnehaha Academy, and then junior hockey in the USPHL with the Tampa Bay Juniors. Following this, Connor embarked on his collegiate hockey career, first at the University of Dubuque and then at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Connor joined the Yuro Sk8 Systems staff in 2024 and has proven himself as a dependable and capable coach, being entrusted to lead some of our youngest teams. His quiet, strong demeanor makes him a natural leader, and his ability to communicate with our youngest players has not gone unnoticed by our senior staff and our families.
Kayleigh Nelson came to Yuro Sk8 Systems in 2025, joining her brother Connor on our coaching staff. Kayleigh began her hockey career in Woodbury, Minnesota and played high school hockey for Woodbury High School. Following her graduation, she began her collegiate career at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Kayleigh has excellent attention to detail, which is so important for young, developing players. Alongside Connor, Kayleigh has found her niche at Yuro Sk8 Systems working with our youngest teams.
Alabama native Colin Harrigan began playing hockey at age 7 when he first moved to Minnesota. Colin played high school hockey at Lakeville North and at the AAA and Tier 1 level with the St. Cloud Norseman's U16 and U18 teams. Following this, Colin began his junior hockey career with the Willmar Warhawks (NA3HL). Aside from playing, Colin has also been coaching and training young hockey players in Lakeville for several years. In 2023, Colin joined the Yuro Sk8 Systems staff as an instructor and assistant coach, where he has developed a real knack for patiently-working with young and developing players. We are proud to have Colin on our staff and look forward to his continued development as a player and as a coach!
Kai Yurichuk comes by coaching honestly, being the eldest of Yuro's sons. A familiar and friendly presence, Kai has long been a part of Yuro Sk8 Systems, both as a player and now as a coach. At any given practice or camp, one can find Kai working one-on-one with a struggling player, setting up drills, hauling equipment, reffing scrimmages, assisting with coaching at games, and chatting with players. Kai will be skating his senior year playing Junior Hockey for the Minnesota Wilderness.
